Michael Cornell News

Michael is a senior at Georgia State University studying journalism with a concentration in multimedia news reporting. He is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, International Dean’s List Society as well as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In April 2018 Michael was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success and ranks in the top 15% of his class.

A Michigan native who relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2013, is equipped with all the essential skills and attributes of a great storyteller and speaker.

As an investigative journalist with the Georgia News Lab, he was among 13 students selected from various Georgia universities to work closely with WSB-TV and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on investigating stories affecting metro Atlanta. Their first major investigation into the 2017 Atlanta mayoral race earned them a front page spot in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Michael was also selected for the WSB-TV 2018 summer investigative internship.

Currently, he serves as a videographer and photographer for his company Michael Cornell Productions, LLC.  In September 2017 he created a documentary called Recover Out Loud that takes place in “The Bluff” of Atlanta, Georgia. This film highlights those who have survived the addiction to substance abuse.
